There is a remote possibility I might begin working on Strawberry Fields again soon, even before TWotW is wrapped, but I won't post anything until I've reread and edited the whole story to date. I'll be updating the edited chapters everywhere except LJ, unless there are people who would likewise like the chance to read a cleaner version of the story from the beginning. Poll #1424452 Strawberry Fields
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: AllI would be interested in reading the chapters the story is edited I reread the first 5 chapters this morning and was pleased. I didn't remember liking it that much when I wrote it the first time. ETA: I obviously shouldn't update LJ when I'm sleepy, especially uneditable polls. That should read: I would be interested in reading the chapters as the story is edited *sheepish* Tags: strawberry fields the mood of the hellmouth is: tired

When you see this, post five unpopular fandom opinions in your journal.1. I'm glad Spike and Buffy really never got together. This is something I didn't realize until today. I'm glad there was little resolution where their relationship is concerned - yes, we had absolute smokin' hotness in S.6 and a beautiful story arc in S.7, but I feel the 'ship would have lost my interest had they actually made it through together. I love Veronica/Logan, for instance, on Veronica Mars, but I'd never write them because they actually had a shot. Veronica admitted she loved Logan, even if their end was ambiguous. Same on Charmed. I have no desire to write Phoebe/Cole, even though their relationship has many of the same dynamics that Spike and Buffy's did...and it's because Phoebe openly admits that she loves Cole. I think exploring the what if's and maybe's wouldn't hold the same appeal to me had Spike and Buffy had this opportunity, and though the shipper in me yearns for proof, I am happier having a fandom I love like this than I would've been otherwise. A fandom where I can explore things my way. 2. I don't want there to be a Buffy movie of any sort. Joss or no Joss. Sorry, but he's broken my heart too many times, and I don't trust him with a movie. And yes, I am aware this is somewhat contradictory to what I said above, but on the whole my point remains the same. I love fanfic, and that's where I want the series to continue. 3. Romances on screen need to have fire as well as love to really interest me. I knew this when Buffy/Angel ceased being my pairing (about two seconds after I met Spike), but now, watching Charmed, I get the same feeling with Piper and Leo. I don't care about them. They're boring. They have The One Great Love and that's nice and all, but not interesting to watch. You have to have fire, and those are the only pairings I really get interested in. 4. I hate S.5 of Angel with a passion, and it's because of Spike. I'm sorry, sweetie, you should've stayed on your show. S.5 changed all the characters - and as a huge AtS fan I resented that. I think a lot of it had to do with Spike being on the show. It lost its darkness in favor of comedy, which made the darker moments seem awkward and forced. I hate S.5. In my world, it never occurred. 5. The Season 8 comics are not canon to me and they never will be. Canon is overrated to begin with. I realize people will disagree with me, but I'm OK with that. They're unpopular opinions for a reason. :) Tags: fandom, meme the mood of the hellmouth is: creative

I have completed two chapters of my taboo_spuffy fic. I'm thinking anywhere from 1-3 more chapters until it's complete. And though dusty273 did a very dangerous thing in telling me I didn't have to have it complete by the due date, I'm going to continue to pretend it does that way I don't have a dangling WIP. With as fast as it's coming, I shouldn't be detoured too much longer. Then I have a fanon_spuffy contribution to make. >.> I'm trying to decide whether or not I should go ahead and post part 1 the aforementioned taboo_spuffy fic. Apparently this is allowed...I just wonder if it'll feel better to have the whole thing complete before I put it out there. Probably. But I'm impatient. Then again, this could be a good exercise in restraint. *cries* What should I dooooo? ETA: I will say, I really love having too many ideas. The drive to write certainly tops the other thing. At the moment, I have stories I want to write for fanon_spuffy, the_jossverse, a fic I'd like to preemptively begin for the next round of seasonal_spuffy, the rest of this taboo_spuffy fic, and, of course, The Writing on the Wall. This is a bit overwhelming, but I love it. I love this time of year. Tags: holly is batshit insane, writing the mood of the hellmouth is: contemplative

Over the past two months, I finished my submission for seasonal_spuffy and wrapped up Because. And aside from my massive guilt at neglecting Strawberry Fields, I had nothing keeping me from The Writing on the Wall. So what did I do with this WONDER OF WONDERS? Why, I signed up for a fic prompt that's due in less than a month, OF COURSE! I recently joined taboo_spuffy, fell in love with a prompt, and decided to snatch it. Around the same time, like three days ago, dampersnspoons and I started fanon_spuffy, and now I have another idea to answer our current prompt. Point? I'm an idiot. Blah. Hmmm. So, I spent the day at work butchering and rewriting chapter outlines, as well as and re-imagining the ending to The Writing on the Wall. It was a little painful, considering I've had the outline for almost two years, but I knew it was going to happen. The state of the characters in an outline versus the state of a characters in a story can differ drastically. Where I was originally supposed to be four chapters from now is unrealistic, and the ending didn't feel right anymore. So I chopped out three chapters, changed the ending as well as several crucial events, and now I'm really comfortable with where the remainder of the story is headed. Although, more than once I've been tempted to do the following with the ending... ( Cut for spoiler warning )Tags: outlines, plotting, the writing on the wall the mood of the hellmouth is: exhausted

Thanks so much to everyone who responded to my post about fanon. It definitely had a purpose. dampersnspoons and I have collaboratively opened a fic-writing community called fanon_spuffy, a safe haven for writers who like to explore the fanon elements of our favorite couple. About fanon_spuffyThis is a community dedicated to writers and readers who enjoy things a bit outside the box. Fanon (conventions in fandom made popular by its fans) is frequently dismissed as inferior to those fanworks that adhere strictly to canon. We are here to say that fanon is just as valid, creative, and no less important, no matter what the naysayers claim. Having said that, we welcome Spike/Buffy fiction and media OF ALL TYPES AND GENRES. Yes, we do have an emphasis in fanon works, but we are not exclusive, as canon/fanon walks a fine line that can cross over quite easily. You write strictly canon? You can post it at fanon_spuffy. We're not going to exclude anyone because of their preferences - we simply want the community to be open and welcoming, and its writers to feel comfortable submitting any sort of fiction. Have I piqued your interest? Aren't you just going, 'ooh'? Well, don't wait! CHECK US OUT!!!! You know you wanna. ^_~ Tags: fanon, fanon spuffy, holly is excited!, new community the mood of the hellmouth is: bouncy

How many times has someone on your friends list posted about something and you were really confused, but you didn't want to ask because you felt like you should know? How many times have you felt guilty asking a close LJ friend a question that you thought should be obvious? Well, here's your chance. If you've missed a few things, missed an entry and are confused, are new to my flist, whatever, ask me anything. Even something extremely basic, like where I live! I'm not allowed to get even slightly irritated at any of the questions - We've all missed things before. We don't know everything about everyone and it's fine to ask. In turn, though, you must please gak and repost this in your own journal, so I and others get a chance to ask you something :-) Tags: meme
